Obituary of Joan Ann Leonetti
Joan Ann DiPronio Leonetti, age 88, of Naugatuck and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the cherished wife of her childhood sweetheart Joseph for 67 years. Born in Bridgeport on June 23, 1936, Joan was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Mary DiPronio.
Joan’s unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted parishioner of St. Andrew’s Church, she and Joseph selflessly dedicated countless hours volunteering and leading numerous committees. Joan also found joy and fulfillment in her many years as a life member of the St. Francis X. Cabrini Columbiettes Council 4096, where she served as Auxiliary President and State President. Her generosity, spirit, and leadership touched many lives.
Above all, Joan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A woman of strength and resilience, she took immense pride in raising four daughters, nurturing them with love and wisdom. Joan’s presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
In addition to her beloved husband Joseph, Joan’s memory will be cherished by her four daughters: Michele Ragone and her husband Dennis Schoebel, Elizabeth Leonetti, Antoinette Glass and her husband William, and Sherry Lynn Ott and her husband Gary. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren: Angela Ragone, John Ragone Jr., Deanna Ragone-Staffa, Erica Ragone-Berrios, Ethan Ortiz, Evan Ortiz, Sydney Ortiz, Tyler Glass, Jeremy Glass, Logan Glass, Jordan Ott, and Bailey Ann Ott. Joan was also the adoring great-grandmother of four: Myiah, John III, Noah, and Jacob. She is survived by her dear sister, Concelia LoPresti and her husband Stephen, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her brother, Frank DiPronio.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Joan’s remarkable life will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport. At the family’s request, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Joan’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
Joan’s warmth, compassion, and devotion will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She will never be forgotten.
