Obituary of Dr. Robert Beecher Taylor III

Dr. Robert Beecher Taylor III, age 96 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026 surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of Iris (Cordero) Taylor. Born in Richmond, VA on November 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Dr. Robert Beecher Taylor II and Thelma (Forrester) Taylor. After graduating from Bassick High School in 1948 he attended Fairfield University where he earned a B.S. in Biology in 1952 and became the university's first African American student to do so. He went on to graduate from Howard University School of Dentistry in 1956. He was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps for four years. Dr. Taylor later began his career in family dentistry in 1960 when he opened his private practice in Bridgeport. He was truly devoted to his patients for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying various activities like tennis, golf, skiing, and fishing. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Graduate Chapter, the Tashua Knolls Senior Men's Bowling League, the Sno-Burners Ski Club, a past president of the Bridgeport Dental Association, and, most importantly, a member of the Connecticut Guardsmen. Dr. Taylor was also quite artistic and a talented painter who created many beautiful works of art throughout his life. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Iris of 50 years, other survivors include his devoted children, Kirk Taylor and his wife Richelle of Studio City, CA, Stephen Taylor and his wife Dulce of Milford, Cheryl Taylor of New York, NY, Christa DeLeo and her husband Jason of Monroe and Robert Beecher Taylor IV of Trumbull, his cherished grandchildren, Colton DeLeo, Ashley Taylor, Evan DeLeo and Gabriel Taylor, as well as several nieces and nephews.
