Obituary of Joseph B. Morelli
Joseph B. Morelli, age 88, of Bridgeport, a retired employee for the Ocean Fish Co., died on Friday, July 13, 2007 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on July 2, 1919, he was a son of the late Lorenzo and Maria Romano Morelli. A decorated U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Joe served in the European Theatre Campaign participating in the invasion of Normandy on D Day, the Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes and Rhineland. He was a member of the Tank Destroyers under General George Patton. He was a very outgoing person who always gave of himself to others.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Josephine DeLuca Morelli.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph Morelli and his wife Judith of Stratford, Louis Morelli and his wife Julie of Trumbull and Lawrence Morelli and his wife Lisa of Trumbull, a daughter Donna Morelli Archer of Stratford, a son-in-law, Jaime Archer, a sister, Angie Rizzi of Italy, six grandchildren, Joseph III, Matthew and his wife Jessica, Jasen, Dana, Natasha and Lawrence Vincent, a great granddaughter, Mia Grace, a nephew Joseph Rizzi and his wife Wendy and niece Nancy Ferri and her husband Carmine as well as several additional nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
