Obituary of John P. Paoletti
John P. Paoletti, Sr., age 77, of Shelton, beloved husband of Donna Charters Paoletti, died on Monday, July 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on January 1, 1932, he was a son of the late Giacinto and Grace Caseria Paoletti. Mr. Paoletti was a 1949 Stratford High School graduate where he enjoyed a stellar career playing football. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served as a radio operator during the Korean War. A self employed drywall contractor, along with his two brothers John operated Southbury Drywall, Connecticut Gypson and Commercial Drywall which became the largest drywall company on the Northeast employing over 120 people. After his retirement he went on to help his daughter and son-in-law start their security business and he built and developed Grace Lane Properties in Shelton with his son. Throughout his life, he was very active in Sheltons youth flag football programs. He continued to follow the Shelton football program by following the careers of his son and grandsons. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family.
He was pre-deceased by an infant son John, a daughter Grace Mae Searles, a brother Gino Paoletti and a granddaughter, Jolene Marie DeCiucis.
In addition to his beloved wife of 56 years, survivors include three devoted children, Debra Marino and her husband Thomas, Gina Skelly and John Paoletti Jr. and his fiance Lea Piccolo, son-in-law, Robert Searles and his wife Judy, all of Shelton, a brother Ercole Paoletti and his wife Margaret of Shelton, two sisters Dina Belta and her husband James of Westport and Rosemarie Altieri of Wilton, nine cherished, grandchildren, Thomas and John Marino, Jaime DeCiucis, Derek, Daniel and Brian Skelly, Joseph Paoletti, Ryan and Taylor Searles. He also leaves a loving mother-in-law Mae Charters and sisters-in-law Gloria Simon and Patricia Shea. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
