Obituary of Gladys I. Boland

Gladys I. Busser Boland, age 78, of Shelton, loving wife of Walter Boland, died peacefully on January 4, 2011 in her home after a two-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Born on October 22, 1932 in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Bedet Busser. Mrs. Boland was an executive secretary for the G.E. Corp. and also volunteered at the Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.

In addition to her loving husband Walter of 58 years, survivors include three devoted children, Wayne D. Boland and his wife Rose Marie of Acton, MA, Kathleen A. Wojcek and her husband Thomas and Patrick W. Boland and his wife Rita, all of Shelton, seven cherished grandchildren, Craig and Courtenay Boland, Lindsay Given and husband Chris, Brittany Wojcek and fiance Brian Teixeira, SrA Jessica Boland US Air Force, Caitlin and Randall Boland, a great-grandson Carter Given, a brother Charles Busser and his wife Barbara of Trumbull, a sister Barbara Kane of West Palm Beach, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the efforts and support from Luna, Victoria, Monica, Tarsha and Ashley of Comfort Keepers of Shelton, Dr. Felice and Candace Kiely R.N. at The Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, Andy Byrne and Joan Argenta of ALS Association, Connecticut Chapter. 

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 188 Rocky Rest Rd., Shelton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
