Obituary of Vincent T. Piccirillo

Huntington Resident Vincent Thomas Piccirillo, 81, of Huntington, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30th after a long illness. Vincent was the husband of the late Anna (Lamonte) Piccirillo and is survived by four sons who loved and cared for him, especially during this phase of his life, V. Thomas Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Farmington CT; Mark and wife, Carol, of Alpharetta GA; John and wife, Nancy, of Millersville MD; Bart and wife, Cindy, of Bethany CT. Vincent also leaves his sister Mary Roland of Wilmington, Delaware. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, the late Laura (Koraleski) Piccirillo, former wife of his son Mark. Vincent also leaves his loving grandchildren: Joseph, Kaitlin, Christopher, Beth, Bryan, Matthew, Kristen and Andrew, and a great-grandson, Gordon. Vincent also leaves a special friend, Connie Dezso, of Trumbull CT. Vincent was the son of the late Abramo and Nicolena (Landolfi) Piccirillo, born in the Bronx NY on November 19th, 1928. Vincent grew up with his family in the Bronx and became an avid lifelong Yankee fan. He enjoyed going to the YMCA and vocational school with his friends where he studied to be an electrician. After graduating the Bronx Vocational High School, Vincent met his wife Anna at his first job at the Royal Insurance Company in New York. They were married in 1951 and relocated to Dumont, NJ in 1955 where they raised their four sons. During this period, Vincent served as a volunteer and offered countless hours to the Dumont Little League Baseball Club, the Borough of Dumont Recreation Commission and the Dumont Lions Club. At times he served as President during his tenure with these organizations. During this same period, his wife Anna also volunteered and served as President of the PTA and Dumont Board of Education. Vincent was also a member of the US Army Reserves (42nd Infantry Division , 258th Field Artillery Group) during the Korean War but was honorably discharged after ten years without ever being called up to serve active duty. Vincents second Job was with the New York Life Insurance Company where he worked for 35 years and retired as a Corporate Vice President in 1986. After he retired, Vincent relocated to Huntington, CT where he met many new friend and neighbors. Vincent worked for several years at the Shelton Recreation Center. Vincent loved dancing, woodworking, going to the casinos, and spending his winters in Florida. He also treated the entire family to several vacations to Ocean City, NJ, Lake Winnipesaukee, NH, and two Caribbean cruises that the entire family will always remember. Vincents family would like to thank all the folks that helped him during the past few years, particularly his friends Dick, Liz, Sunny, and Victor in Shelton. They would also like to thank the wonderful people who work at St. Vincents Hospital and Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton for such wonderful care. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday November 3, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park Paramus NJ.
