Obituary of Robert Smuniewski

Robert Smuniewski, age 18, of Easton, devoted son of John J. and Camille Pierni Smuniewski, died suddenly on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Born in Bridgeport on September 25, 1992, Robert, most commonly referred to as Rob, was in his senior year at Joel Barlow High School, where he was a member of the golf and hockey teams. He was a fun loving, free spirited young man with an endearing personality. With his cheerful presence and charming wit, people everywhere couldnt help but love him. His vibrant personality and infinite optimism was unparalleled. Robert will always be remembered for his willingness and passion to lend a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors. He was a caring person who had an impact upon every person he met. He loved life, spreading his contagious smile and infectious laugh amongst others each day. Although he led a short life, the multitude of memories and Rob Stories are countless and will always live in the hearts of his family and friends.

In addition to his devoted parents John and Camille, survivors include his two loving sisters, Mary Smuniewski and his twin sister Christine Smuniewski, both of Easton. He is further survived by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Pierni of Stamford, as well as several cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, and many dear friends including his dearest friend and neighbor, Christina Anderson. Robert also leaves, to cherish his memory, his canine companion, Peppie.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Mary Uva Pierni and paternal grandparents, Stanley and Elsie Fuss Smuniewski. 

Funeral services will take place at St. Theresas Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, on Friday January 14, 2011 at 9 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Private interment will follow in Stamford. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Reception will take place at the Easton Community Center, 364 Sport Hill Road, Easton at 12:30 p.m.
