Obituary of Shirley A. Gillespie

Resident of Shelton Shirley A. Sorensen Gillespie, age 82, of Shelton, a retired secretary for D. M. Reads, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in Bridgeport Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on April 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Nowell Sorensen Sr. Mrs. Gillespie was dedicated to the love and care of her family always putting their needs in front of her own. She was a past member of the Shelton Senior Center and the Gaelic American Club. Survivors include her beloved husband of 59 years, John E. Gillespie, a son, Thomas J. Gillespie and his wife Karen of Dallas, GA, three daughters, Patricia A. Pifko and her husband Joseph and Deborah A. Kascak and her husband Thomas, all of Trumbull and Sally A. Tomlinson and her husband David of Shelton, a brother, Arthur Sorensen Jr. and his wife Natalie of East Hartland, a brother-in-law, Gerald Gillespie and his wife, Dorothy, 11 grandchildren, Thomas Gillespie and his wife Jennifer, Tara Gillespie, Kate Pifko, Anne Norman and her husband Mark, Tricia Pifko and her fiance Matthew McDonald, Brian Kascak and his fiancee, Melissa Feller, Megan Kascak, Allison Kascak, Rebecca Lomachinsky and her husband John, Kimberly Young and her husband Christopher and Scott Tomlinson, two great grandchildren, Sarah and Maggie Gillespie and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial.
