Obituary of Shirley Ann Ackley

Resident of Stratford Shirley Ann Marshall Ackley, age 83, of Stratford, beloved wife of Glenn Ackley, died surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Lyons, NY, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Leona Hall Marshall. A retired educator, Shirley taught at the former Park Lane School in Trumbull, was a substitute teacher in both Stratford and Fairfield and an aide at Tomlinson Junior High. She was an active member of Long Hill United Methodist Church, and a member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association and AAUW. Shirley was devoted to her family and her faith. In addition to her loving husband of 54 years, Glenn, she is also survived by her daughter Dawn Leos (Jay) of Trumbull, her son William Ackley (Tori) of Fairfield, three grandchildren; Kyera, Kyleigh and Charles, great grandson Gabriel, her brother Glenn Marshall (Sylvia) of Rochester, NY, sister-in-law Jean Dobson of Williamson, NY and many nieces and nephews. Shirley also leaves behind, Sassy, her treasured terrier companion. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother; Lawrence Marshall and daughter-in-law Tamie Ackley. Funeral Information Funeral Services will take place directly in Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St., Trumbull on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
