Obituary of Stanley L. Sotnik

Stanley L. Sotnik, age 72, of Bridgeport passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Szenkovics Sotnik. Born in Bridgeport on March 19, 1942 he was a son of the late Stanley and Ivy Gaunt Sotnik. Mr. Sotnik was a cabinet maker by trade before going to work for Bridgeport Machine, where he worked as a group leader and supervisor before his retirement with over 36 years of dedicated service. In his early years, he was a member of the Boys Club in Bridgeport and even practiced the art of Judo. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was also considered a skilled craftsman when it came to woodworking. His greatest pleasure however was found in the time he spent with his wife and daughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 32 years, Elizabeth, other survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Ivy Sotnik of Bridgeport and her boyfriend Garrett Stone of Hanson, MA, his brother, Joseph G. Sotnik of Watertown, a niece Therese Sotnik of Woodbury and her daughter Ashley Merrill, a nephew, Paul Sotnik and his wife Mary of Bethel and a cousin, Claire Menard of Rhode Island. Stanley was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Sotnik. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
