Obituary of Doris A. Zielinski

Doris A. Rick Zielinski, age 93, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Carl B. Zielinski, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at her residence. Born in Barnesboro, PA on December 20, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Tina Dorfee Rick. Doris was a kind, gentle soul who always put others before herself. She cared deeply about her family and always looked forward to spending time with them at birthday and holiday gatherings. She especially enjoyed having family and friends visit her in her home where she would share many wonderful memories of years gone by over a cup of coffee. She would reminisce about how she loved to dress up and put on high heels to go out dancing. Red was her color, as she always had red hair and wore red lipstick. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who will be deeply missed by all. She also had a soft spot in her heart for animals and would talk fondly about her beloved German Shepherd, Duchess. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Matteo of Jackson, CA, three cherished grandchildren, Dawn Hurley, William Matteo and Michelle Klick, many great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mary Rick of Bridgeport as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Lillian Piccirillo and Vivian Maresco and four brothers; Gino Rick, Vincent Richetti, Leonard Rick and Albert Rick. She was the last of her siblings. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers who took wonderful care of Doris over the years, especially Parveen Sewel who was so giving of her time to care for Doris. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 9:30 a.m. in Christ the King Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Friday morning from 8:15 – 9:00 a.m.
