Obituary of Edward F. Connolly

Edward Francis Connolly, 85, of Easton, Connecticut died on Monday, September 1, 2014 after a courageous and lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease surrounded by his family at the home of his son Kevin W. Connolly. He was the beloved husband of the late Charlotte M. Connolly. The son of the late William and Catherine Connolly, Edward was born on June 17, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York. Edward served in The Korean War with the 187th Regimental Combat Team (Airborne) and retired from the New York City Transit Authority in 1990. Edward was an avid reader, history buff and sports fan throughout his life and loved to be with his grandchildren, whom he adored. Edward is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin W. and Alexandra Connolly of Easton, Connecticut and their four children, Elizabeth, Patrick, Aidan and Mary and his daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Rudy Martinez of New Braunfels, Texas and their two children, Olivia and Rodolfo. Edward was pre-deceased by his sister Maureen Pittman. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to Edward's homecare givers Marlene and Zizele for their care and compassion. A memorial service celebrating his life will be announced at a later date. Friends may call at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, Connecticut on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Entombment will be private at the convenience of the family.
