Obituary of Rosa Alves Vilaverde

Rosa Alves Vilaverde, age 94, of Trumbull and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Vilaverde. Born in Ribeira de Pena, Canedo, Portugal on January 11, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Augusto and Angelina Alves. Rosa came to the U.S. in 1969 where she settled in Bridgeport and for the past 20 years has resided in Trumbull. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include her children, Laura Ferreira and her husband Antonio of Trumbull, Lucia Ribas and her husband Manuel Jose of Bridgeport, Albino Vilaverde and his wife Elizabeth of Trumbull, Candida Ferreira of Shelton, Salvador Vilaverde of FL, Judite Tiago and her husband Fernando of Trumbull and Ilidio Vilaverde and his wife Ariana of FL and a brother, Jose Alves and his wife Ondina of Bridgeport. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rosa was predeceased by a brother, Ernesto Alves and his wife Cesaltina. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
