Obituary of Margaret Veckerelli Hartley

Margaret B. Veckerelli Hartley, age 101, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013, peacefully at home. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Harold Hartley.

She was pre-deceased by her four brothers, Steve, Peter, Tony and Dominic and two sisters, Marion and Carina.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Marguerite Switter and her husband Steve of Stratford and two very special grandsons, Tim Brown and his wife Michelle of Woodbridge and Richard Brown and his fiance Nicole Cooke of Orange. She was blessed to enjoy three great grandchildren, Katalyna, Carmella and Jerico, whom she loved dearly. Aunt Margaret also loved all of her very special nieces and nephews.

Margaret was an accomplished opera singer singing at the Klein Memorial, St. Raphael, St. Margaret and St. Theresa Churches for over 56 years. She had been a long time Trumbull resident before moving to Stratford with her daughter. Margaret was retired from Read's Department Store. She was a very kind and loving person who loved to play pinochle, tell jokes and cook and share recipes with everyone. She enjoyed every minute of her 101 years. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice for their outstanding care and support. 

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
