Obituary of Frank E. Blanco

Frank E. Blanco, age 94, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Edna Jackel Blanco, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born on August 8, 1921 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Edward Blanco and Frances Tamayo Blanco. Frank was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the U.S., Italy and Northern Africa. When he returned home, he became the owner of the Mobil Gas Station located on the corner of Benham and Park Avenue in Bridgeport CT. Always an optimist and entrepreneur this serendipitous location led him to meet his wife of 54 years Edna who lived down the block. He sold the gas station and was employed as a salesman for Hartenberg Associates. During the Korean War he worked as a manufacturer's representative selling parts to the U.S. military manufacturers across the Eastern Seaboard. For many years he would call on GE (Lynn, Massachusetts) and arrive at 8 a.m. every Monday morning. He also was the owner of Grove Manufacturing that supplied parts to the airplane industry. After much success in sales, he purchased The Huntington Inn Restaurant on Huntington Turnpike and owned it for 25 years. His next ventures involved community service, banking and real estate. As a Trumbull resident for 55 years, he served on the sewer commission, was Chairman of the Wetlands commission for 13 years, and served on the Police Commission for 14 years during which he was chairman for 7 years. He was also one of the founders of the Bank of Trumbull and Valley Bank. Frank transitioned to Real Estate and was employed as a Vice President with David A. Mack Properties and most recently and until his death employed as a Vice President with Ceruzzi Development of Fairfield, CT for over 20 years. He was an accomplished entrepreneur and professional, community advocate and a good friend to all. His family is grateful for all the love and support that the Ceruzzi family has provided to him and for the amazing people who cared for him during the last 5 years- Bertha Albert, Juanita Levy, Maureen Cerino, Wavney Downer, Avery Edwards, and Joann Mata. Without this team of caring and compassionate women his home would not have been joyful and his last days and years would not have been provided with compassion and comfort. Above all else he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He treasured every moment with his friends and family. All the love and values he instilled upon all of us will continue to live in our hearts. He will truly be missed by all. Survivors include three loving daughters, Sandra Harris and her husband of Brian of Medina, Ohio, Virginia Girouard and her husband Richard of Trumbull and Frances Blanco-Stanczyk and her husband Joseph of Hoboken, N.J., four cherished grandchildren David and Kristin Harris of Medina, Ohio, Rick Girouard of Trumbull, Faith Stanczyk of Hoboken, N.J. and great-grand-daughter, Nina Harris of Lakewood, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
