Viola was my father's first cousin. I met her about 20 years ago at a family wedding. My husband and I visited her and her brother the next year, where she extended gracious hospitality. I very much enjoyed getting to know her, and am impressed by her many accomplishments.

Dear Viola, you made an indelible mark on my adolescence. You treated me as if I were an adult long before I was one. As an adult those memories informed how I interact with young people. Visits with you in recent years have been rich in reminiscences and laughter as we talked about family and your life. Your joy was infectious! Thank you for the love you gave me. You will be with me always. To all of Viola's family and friends and all those whose life she enriched, you have my condolences. We have lost a bright light in our lives.
