Obituary of Vincent Tortorello
Vincent Tortorello, age 91, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation, Stratford after a two year battle with kidney cancer. He was the beloved husband of Frances Cantarera Tortorello. Born in New York City, NY on April 5, 1925, he was a son of the late Vincent and Sepontina Gelormini Tortorello.
A United States Army Air Corp. veteran, he served honorably during World War II in China, India and Burma. Vincent grew up in the Bronx and was a natural lifelong Yankee fan. Before his retirement, he was a deli manager with Stop and Shop for over 25 years and was once the owner of the former Villa Mia Restaurant of Beacon Falls, which was a longtime dream of his. His favorite past time was having lunch daily with his wife at the Baldwin Center and playing poker, especially with his friends, also at the Baldwin Center. He loved watching Turner Classic Movies and could identify the most obscure actors. He was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife for many years.
In addition to his wife Frances of 68 years, survivors include his three loving children, Susan Clabby and her husband Joseph of Stratford, Vincent Tortorello and his wife Phyllis of Ansonia and Donna Weaver and her husband Randy of Stratford, two grandsons, Michael Weaver and his wife Desiree of Round Rock, TX and David Weaver and his fiancée Laura Tracey of Stratford, a special nephew, Daniel Cedrone and his wife Cristina and their children, Daniel and Savanna and a special niece, Dawn Cedrone-Walsh and her children, Ryan and Jamie as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Alex and John Tortorello and a sister, Angie Parisi.
