Obituary of Giuseppe Maione

Giuseppe Maione "Superman", age 102, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Francesca Greco Maione, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 15, 1914 in Terrati, Calabria, Italy, he was a son of the late Angelo and Anna Lorelli Maione. A retired brick layer for over 70 years, he formerly resided in Brooklyn, NY before settling in Bridgeport in 1984. Giuseppe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, to his family whose lives were touched by his caring presence and genuine love for all. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. His love of family, words of wisdom, positive attitude, sense of humor, turning strangers into friends and enjoying the simple things in life will continue to be part of his legacy. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Maria Cristina (Marielella) Guidi, and his two brothers, Pasquale and Giovanni Maione. Survivors include his seven children, Carmelo Maione and his wife Carmelina of Shelton, Lina Maione of Italy, Maria Guidi and her husband Frank of Stratford, Angelo Maione and his wife Wendy of Shelton, Mario Maione and his wife Mafalda of Oxford, Eva Cerquozzi and her husband Armando of Bridgeport and Grace DelFranco and her husband Peter of Fairfield. He also leaves to cherish his memory 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Ave, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
