Obituary of Jose Ferreira

Trumbull Resident Jose Ferreira, age 62 of Trumbull, loving husband of Maria Goncalves Ferreira, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011. Born on June 2, 1948 in Curros De Boticas, Portugal, he was a son of the late Americo Goncalves Ferreira and Gloria DeJesus Garcia. Mr. Ferreira was a veteran of the Portuguese Army. He was an industrious man who came to the United States in 1973 and worked untiringly in swimming pool construction for over 30 years to provide a good life for his family. He was an avid winemaker and connoisseur who brought his Portuguese winemaking tradition alive here in the United States and passed it along to his sons. He also enjoyed gardening and took every opportunity he could to help his children and family build their homes and their lives. In addition to his beloved wife, survivors include his two loving sons, Tony Ferreira and his wife Christine of Trumbull, and Carlos Ferreira of Bridgeport, a sister, Aline Goncalves and her husband Tony of Trumbull, brothers, Armando Ferreira, and Alfredo Ferreira and his wife Maria all of France, Domingos Garcia of Trumbull, and Antonio Ferreira of Portugal, as well as his father-in-law, Jose Goncalves and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends who will always remember him as a strong, stoic, simple soul with a notoriously incredible head of thick hair. His memory will always be cherished. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm.
