Obituary of Mary Catherine Dyson

Mary C. Shahhein Dyson, age 62 of Bloomfield and formerly of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017 in Tampa, FL surrounded by her loving family. Born in Norwalk on March 20, 1955 she was a daughter of the late George and Helen Vilk Shahhein. A retired administrative assistant for General Electric, Mary was proud to have returned to college at the age of 42 and graduated Suma Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. Affectionately known as 'Mad Mary", she was extremely physically fit; for many years she would teach aerobics classes every day. Mary has helped hundreds of people obtain their health and fitness goals. People were in awe of what she could accomplish in the gym. She was very active in her children's lives, some of the family's best moments were spent outside in nature. Her passion for nature could always be seen through her love for flowers. When her granddaughter Julia was born she became the focal part of Mary's life. She would talk to Julia every day and instill the importance of hard work and family. Mary enjoyed supporting Julia in her many academic achievements and learning about Julia's passion for horses. The memories and unconditional love she gave to them will always live on in their hearts. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband of 38 years, Robert, survivors include two loving children, Laura Duda and her husband James and Robert M. Dyson III of Florida, a cherished and adored granddaughter, Julia Belair, a brother Thomas Shahhein, two sisters, Cecile Mortel and her husband Dr. Rodrigue Mortel and Marie Kulka and her husband John, two nieces Denise and Renee, as well as many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mary's life will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church 6948 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will take place in Florida. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
