Obituary of Dennis J. Galatie

Dennis John Galatie, age 65, of Monroe, beloved husband of Diane Formichella Galatie, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Born in Bridgeport on April 19, 1952, he was the son of the late John F. and Josephine Auriemme Galatie. He was raised in Trumbull and graduated from Trumbull High School in 1971. He was a retired employee of the City of Bridgeport Board of Education. Dennis was a devoted family man and his family was everything to him. His greatest enjoyment was found in the time that he was surrounded by his loved ones, especially his grandchildren whom he adored. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to Diane, his devoted wife of 38 years, survivors include two cherished daughters, Nicole Neeley and her husband Matt and Lauren Smith and her husband Tom, all of Monroe, four adored grandchildren, Holly, Bryce and Maddison Neeley and Denise Smith, three uncles, Joseph Galatie and Richard Galatie, both of Stratford and John Formichella of Monroe, sister-in-law, Dr. Donna Formichella, brothers-in-law, Dr. Octavian Jurjescu and John Hannen, a nephew, Mark Jurjescu, all of California, as well as many cousins and dear friends. Friends are invited to meet directly at St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. At Dennis' request, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 Landmark Square, Suite 330, Stamford, CT 06901.
