Obituary of John J. Shea

John J. Shea Sr., age 94, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Dolores F. Geary Shea, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 8, 2017. Born on June 23, 1922 in Valentia Island, County Kerry, Ireland, he was a son of the late Cornelius and Catherine O'Shea. Before his retirement, John was a Telephone Installer for SNET with over 35 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, spending time in his yard, Irish music and a good cup of Irish tea. He was a gentle, kind and caring man who had a great sense of humor. John had a strong faith in God and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family and had an undying devotion to his son John. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife, Dolores of 62 years, he is survived by his four loving children, John J. Shea Jr. of Trumbull, Catherine Dolny and her husband Christopher of Shelton, Eileen O'Brien and her husband Myles of Easton and Maureen Fleming and her husband James of Trumbull; grandchildren, Sarah and Chelsea Rose Dolny, Elizabeth and Colin O'Brien and Kayleigh, Alannah and Declan Fleming and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Cornelius O'Shea; sisters, Mary McCarthy, Catherine McCarthy, Hannah O'Shea, Julie Rearden and Bridget Murphy. The family would like to express a special thanks to Alicia and Felicia Shim for all the devoted and loving care they gave to John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
