Jim Kish Jr. had a tremendous effect on the over-all success of my life. I was one of his students at Waltersville Elementary School and played basketball for him in the Public School League. We had a championship game against St. Patricks School and beat Jack Kavance who became one of Harding's great basketball player. Jim was a tough competitor on and off the court. He loved sports and instilled upon us sportsmanship, competitiveness, and integrity- that is what Jim was about throughout his career and his personal life. I will truly miss him and my sympathy, love, and honor to the entire family.

So sadden to hear of the passing of Coach Kish. My prayers go out to the family. As sad as the news is, I was also brightened by the memories I have of Coach Kish and they brought a smile to face as I reflected on my times as a Fairfield Stag. Coach Kish didn't get the credit or limelight, but as I think back on it, my college experience would not have been the same without him. I didn't recognize his importance to my career at the time, but his steady presence and side conversations full of the right stuff was invaluable. Coach Kish came from an era when Men were Men and that was an important influence on me. He didn't sugarcoat things but was incredibly supportive to me and I'll always be thankful. God Bless a life well lived impacting others!

I have only fond memories of my time with Jim when we worked together at Fairfield University during my years as its athletics director. He cared for and touched many young athletes. While basketball was the medium used to reach them, he always taught that life, and its responsibilities were bigger than the game. He taught the importance of responsibility and accountability. The many players he coached carried those values into their personal lives, leaving an indelible symbol of who Jim was with them that will live on through them. My warmest condolences and prayers for Mary and the entire Kish family.
