Elaine was a client, a student, a friend, and at times a confidant of mine on Marco Island. As a tennis pro on Marco I was literally with her on the court 4 hours a week between her team and semi private lessons 6 months a year for 6 years. Special bonds are made preparing for competition at any level and, wow, would she compete even through many injuries. She was as teachable as any student I had and was always willing to make the changes necessary to make her a better player. The gritty, very gritty, fighter in her was genetic and a natural characteristic. What I remember and love most is her sense of humor and diverse vocabulary with that obvious Jersey/New York accent. : ) Thank you Elaine for the many laughs!
