Obituary of Anthony J. Ferreone
Resident of Bridgeport
Anthony John Ferreone (Tony) age 80, of Bridgeport, CT and Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully, with his devoted wife, Janet, and loving family by his side, as he desired, on Friday, November 6, 2009.
A resident of Bridgeport for most of his life, he retired to Florida six years ago, where he made many friends and enjoyed the warm Florida sun. A graduate of Central High School, Tony was very proud of his military service to our country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. A multi-skilled and industrious individual, Tony held many positions during his life, including the City of Bridgeport and as Director of Facilities at Bridgeport Jai-Alai. Tony served on numerous City of Bridgeport Boards and Commissions, including the Fire and WPC Commissions. He was a very active member and supporter of Holy Rosary Parish, the Sons of Italy, and for every organization his children volunteered him.
He is survived, loved and will greatly be missed by his cherished wife of 56 years, Janet and five children of whom he was so proud: Laura Sullivan, Toni Lynn Zeleny, Jan Marie ONeil, Linda LaPorta Bloom and Anthony Ferreone. He was admired and loved by his sons-in-law; Jeff Zeleny, Len ONeil, Drew Bloom and his favorite daughter-in-law Joelle Ferreone. One of the greatest joys of his life were his eleven cherished grandchildren, who adored their Pop: Mark LaPorta, Kate Sullivan, Jennifer and Jillian ONeil, Jessica, Nicholas and Jeffrey Zeleny, Alyssa and Alanna Ferreone, and Ava and Jacob Bloom. He will be missed by his cousins, relatives and many friends that he considered his extended family.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Neal Fischbach and his extraordinary team in Fairfield, especially Renee Moya, and Kim Bielecki and the wonderful staff of Bridgeport Hospital for their compassionate and loving care. Funeral Information
