Obituary of Juan Antonio Muñiz

Juan Antonio Muñiz, Sr., age 86, of Stratford, entered peacefully into the heart of the Lord on January 12, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Ramonita Tosado Muñiz. Juan Antonio was born in Camuy, Puerto Rico on May 11, 1931, to the late Celia Rosario Muñiz and Vicente Muñiz. He was a retiree of Sikorsky Aircraft, with 28 years of dedicated service. Juan was a devout Catholic who lived his faith with great intensity and faithfulness. A lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony/St Peter Church, Juan was a member of the Santo Nombre Men's Group, a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He also gave his time and talent to serve in the Cursillo de Cristiandad, was a member of the Charismatic Group, and devoted many years bringing the word of God and evangelizing others. He was a gentle soul with a big heart who cherished his faith, his love for Christ, and his eight children. Survivors include his eight loving children, Juan A. Muñiz, Jr and his wife Nilda of Seymour, William Muñiz and his wife Maria of Stratford, Edwin Muñiz and his wife Evelyn of Bridgeport, Rosie Villa and her husband Jose of Bridgeport, Nancy Muñiz of Seymour, Robert Muñiz and his wife Heidi of Hawaii, Leticia Bilotta and her husband Robert of Florida and David Muñiz of Bridgeport. Grandpa (Abuelo) will be greatly missed by his 14 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Peter's Church, 695 Colorado Ave., Bridgeport on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
