Obituary of Mary Ruesch

Mary Ferraro Ruesch, age 87, of Monroe, beloved wife of the late Richard R. Ruesch Sr., passed away peacefully on January 30, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born in Bridgeport on January 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Anna Fortivo Ferraro. Mary graduated from Central High School, also in Bridgeport. In her youth, she was an avid ballroom dancer. After being married to Richard in 1957, she was a homemaker for many years, before becoming a quality control technician for 15 years at Perkin Elmer. She was also a founding member and dedicated parishioner of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Monroe. Mary is remembered fondly by many as a fierce poker, mahjong, and bridge player and also enjoyed knitting blankets for her loved ones.

Survivors include four children, a son, Donald Ruesch and his wife Gloria of Prospect; three daughters, Candice Davies of Newtown, Evelyn Mainiero and her husband John of Oxford, and Karen Mucherino and her husband John of Monroe; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Lyndsey), Kevin (Lorrissa), and Michelle Davies, Richard III, Ronald and Jamie Ruesch, John Mainiero, Jr., and Nicole (Salvatore) Giglio and Kristen (Brendan) Cavanaugh; two great-grandchildren, Adeline Giglio and Riley Cavanaugh; a brother, Phillip Ferraro and his wife Judy; sisters, Rose Marie Wallin and her husband Ronald and Antoinette Roman; a brother-in-law, Vincent Maiocco; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard R. Ruesch Jr., and siblings, Theresa Martin, Frances Maiocco and Anthony Ferraro.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. directly in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 466 Elm Street, Monroe. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday morning in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Monroe from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
