Obituary of Maria Antunes Goncalves

Maria Antunes Goncalves, age 90, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Mario Goncalves, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Ludlowe Health Center, with her loving family by her side. Born in Canedo Ribeiro de Pena, Portugal on March 6, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Anibal and Ana Fernandes Antunes.

She enjoyed her Saturday trips to Chaves Bakery and looked forward to the many family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by her sons, Domingos and Jose Goncalves and brothers, Manuel and Domingos Antunes.

Survivors include her daughters-in-law, Maria R. Goncalves and Albertina Goncalves, both of Bridgeport, a sister, Luisa Cacote of Bridgeport, three grandchildren, Mario Goncalves and his wife Judi, Paul Goncalves and his wife Jennifer and Jonathan Goncalves, five great grandchildren, Iva, Daniel, Mario, Lucas and Jenna.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-8 pm.
