I remember countless Sunday evenings spent at the Hanley dinner table, being included in the warm embrace of this magnificent energy of love/laughter and sometimes complete chaos! How well Joan nourished her family and adopted family members with delicious meals, home baked rolls and rich conversation. No matter how many of us there were, there was always room made for one more. How lucky we all were to be so cared for by this incredible woman. She showed us how one could create a balance in life between career and family and how there was never really any time limit on pursuing your dreams. I remember once talking to her about growing older and I'll never forget her telling me that no matter her age, she always felt like she was "18 inside". Her youthfulness was one of her greatest attributes, there was always a freshness to her ideas and an exuberance for life that made such a strong impression on my younger self. Thank-you Joan for all that you shared with us.
