Obituary of Maria Ermelinda Costa

Maria Ermelinda Costa, age 96, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Adelino Costa, past away peacefully on Sunday, June 17, 2018, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 14, 1921 in Torre de Moreiras, Chaves, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Alfredo Ferreira and Ana Joaquina. Maria emigrated to the United States in 1970 with her family and has since resided in Bridgeport. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was passionate about cooking for her loved ones, working in her garden; but what she cherished the most was spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.  

In addition to her beloved husband of 69 years, Adelino, survivors include three loving sons, Elisio (Eli) Costa of Bridgeport, Humberto Costa and his wife Debora of Bridgeport, and Fernando Costa and his wife Rosa of Stratford, five cherished grandchildren, Noelle Costa, Mario Costa, Christen Costa and her husband Clinton Vass, Jr., George Costa and Kevin Costa, a special great grandson, Brady; dear friend Izaura Rosa, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, infant Antonio and Tony Costa, siblings, Joao, Antonio, Manuel and Evangelina. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice Care for their compassionate and dedicated care.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.  Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
