Obituary of Daniel J. Izzo
Daniel J. Izzo, age 77, of Fairfield, retired sergeant for the Bridgeport Police Department with 32 years of service, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on August 15, 1927, he was a son of the late Leonard and Marie Saracino Izzo. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was named Policeman of the Year in 1969. He was a director for the Bridgeport Police Athletic League and was very active in contributing to youth programs.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 46 years, Rosemarie Galliotti Izzo, loving daughters, Joy Paoletti and her husband, Christopher of Trumbull, Judy and Jim Vig of Monroe, Jackie Halpin and her husband, Jimmy of Monroe, three sisters, Lucille Oleynick and her husband, John, Sr., of Stratford, Margaret Gross and her husband, Henry of Bridgeport and Doris Weber of Shelton, his wonderful mother-in-law, Nana, a cherished dear friend of 65 years, Anthony Fabrizzi, nine beloved grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the dedication and care that he received from his doctors, especially Dr. Eric Gentry, Dr. Andrew Duda and Dr. Arnold DoRosario.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
