Benny was a good friend through high school after! He was always the gentleman. In 1963 on this very date, we climbed Mt Washington together which was my first of many climbs! My prayers are with Jo-Ann and the rest of the family. Fred Hafele

Ben Nero and I were best friends starting with our first day going to Fairfield Prep together for our first freshman day of classes. We met at the bus stop at the Fire Station across the street from his house on Sylvan Avenue in 1954. Were were both very nervous but gave strength and confidence to each other. Ben gave me more than I think I gave him. We were close friends thereafter and I was fortunate to help him meet his future wife. When he was stationed in San Diego we spent a day on his new boat and he was the proud, very capable Captain handling his boat in the 15-foot waves off La Jolla. My wife and I will dearly miss Ben.
