Obituary of Fernando J. Carvalho

Fernando J. Carvalho, age 79 of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria E. Borges Carvalho. Born in Carrazedo de Montenegro, Portugal on March 22, 1939 he was a son of the late Joaquim and Emilia Conceicao Carvalho. Fernando worked as a mechanic and welder for Mark IV Construction before his retirement in 2003 with many years of dedicated service. He was an avid soccer fan and huge supporter of Benfica. He also loved working in his vegetable garden. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored so much. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Maria of 50 years, other survivors include his loving children, Fernando Carvalho and his wife Melisa of Fairfield and Renee Lozada and her husband Michael of East Haven, his three cherished grandchildren, Massimo and Carmela Carvalho and Preston Lozada, his three sisters, Fatima Sendas and her husband Sebastiao of Bridgeport and Augusta Valpacos and Natalia Valpacos, both of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well as several nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his brothers, Roldao, Nuno, Afonso, Henrique and ZeMaria Carvalho and his sister, Zeza Salgueiro.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
