Obituary of Gustaf T. Appelberg

Gustaf T. Appelberg, age 93, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Monday December 10, 2018. He was the beloved husband of late Jean Keating Appelberg, who passed away on March 5, 2002. Born on January 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Gustaf and Gertrude Appelberg. A graduate of Bassick High School Class of 1943; he joined the Merchant Marines and served his country for four years during World War II. After the War, he worked for the Dictaphone Co. in Bridgeport. Ted became plant superintendent for Handy & Harman in Fairfield until he opened his own consulting business in 1969 and from then on started several small businesses.

He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Mark Jason Appelberg and Kristin Nicole Appelberg.

Survivors include three sons, Neil (wife Lori) of Monroe, Mark (wife Jackie) of Trumbull and Chris (Martha) of Florida; four grandchildren, Neil Jr., Stephanie, Jamie and Stone.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass celebrating his life on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. directly in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Avenue Fairfield, CT. Private burial took place in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
