Obituary of Catherine M. Barrett

Loving Mother & Gramdmother Catherine M. Shelley Barrett age 87, of Bridgeport , died peacefully on Friday March 19, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Michael James Barrett. Born in Bridgeport on September 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary Toomey Shelley. She was also pre-deceased by her dear sister and best friend Jane O'Brien. Mrs. Barrett was employed by the Bridgeport City Employees Federal Credit Union, as a loan processor. She was dedicated to this job for over 22 years. She was very proud of the fact that she reentered the workforce at a later age and used this as an advantage to help her children and grandchildren. Catherine was a member of the St. Charles Mother's Club and Marion Guild and the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of St. Andrew Parish. Survivors include three loving children, Thomas A. Barrett and his wife Helen of Wallingford, Jane Milewski and her husband Richard of Middlebury, Indiana, formerly of Monroe, CT, and Patricia Wood and her husband Brian of Bridgeport, six cherished grandchildren, Jared, Emily, Amy, and Todd Milewski and Caitlin and Megan Wood as well as several nieces and nephews. Catherine had three wonderful nieces who were like daughters to her, Kathy and Shelley O'Brien and Maureen Niestemski. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday March 24, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road , Trumbull , and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
