To the Bruno family, please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
As a teenager I knew your Dad from the airport, in the 70's and many a day saw him handle the most recent security issues that arose, with confidence and was. Even during the hurricane of 1977, he was on station doing his best to keep aircraft and people safe.
May he now rejoin all those who have gone before.
God Bless

Dear Louie: A friend to all at Sikorsky Memorial Airport who were there during the many years Louie served the city, the airport and the many pilots who knew him. The chores he did for us, the extra time he put in making us safe, the emergencies he worked - all with kindness and a warm smile.
God bless you, Louie, and may your path to heaven be prompt. We will all meet again soon. Say hello to all those who precede me.

Lou was like a Father to me, which he would say " no, I'm so old I could be your Grandfather kid!" and then laugh. He reminded me of Rodney Dangerfield always making jokes.Everybody loved him and they were always so happy to see him. I first met him about 20 years ago after pulling him over in a rough Bridgeport neighborhood. I said " What's a nice young man doing in such a bad neighborhood?" He laughed and said "Young?, look at me kid!" He explained he was dropping someone off but he could take care of himself being that he was a cop too. I said well now you have me as backup! I followed him all the way out until he was safely back on the highway. A week later he came looking for me, as he wanted to say thanks. From that day forward we became friends and he would always bring me a special gift to show he was thinking of me. We started having breakfast at Joe's diner and that became a tradition. Later on we switched it to lunch which we did about monthly. We would argue over the bill as he would say " Respect your elders kid! and I would say "I'm showing my respect by paying". Lou would tell me War stories and Love stories and Life stories always teaching me a lesson in each and everyone. He loved his dog Gibby and his Blue Blazer that he kept remarkably clean. For an older man, he drove like a rookie cop, he was a speed demon and would get pulled over all the time, probably on purpose just so he could meet and say thank you to the Police. He loved all the brothers in Blue. He wore his Korean War hat all the time and appreciated all the thank you for your service he got from people. He was such a kind, thoughtful, funny man. I will miss him so much. God, make sure you take really good care of him and spoil him up there, he truly deserves the best Heaven has to offer! My friend, my brother, rest in peace! I love you Lou!

Lou Bruno is a great man & I appreciated every minute of working with him. Each morning/evening we would walk around Carriage Green as therapy. He always loved to sit with his twins in the dining room. This man always lend an ear and is such a beautiful soul. He pushed me to follow my passion for nursing. When I visited on my birthday I was able to show him how much he meant to me. Lou was the father figure I never had; I Love you always Lou & condolences to the family -Brandon Crawford
