Dear Tom and Laurie,
Sadness for you in the loss of your mom fills my heart, yet happy memories of times working beside her (and Steve as well as both of you) at Town Hall Pharmacy fill my mind. What stands out most about Doris is her wonderful smile and that little “twinkle in her eye” she always displayed along with it.
Both of your parents offered a most pleasant workplace experience, with many joyous moments woven into the work we ALL shared to service “our” customers. Whether it be in working the register, helping customers test their television batteries, assisting Gwen in cosmetics, filling in candy, stocking the Hallmark cards, but most of all, making those bows and wrapping both birthday gifts and ALL THOSE Christmas gifts, especially on Christmas Eve, we were made to feel we truly “belonged to your family.” It was a pleasure and an honor to have my very first working experience as a teenager with Doris as my “teacher”!
I believe it was not by accident our families once again “connected” at the Jewish Home. It WAS surely meant to be! I was so happy to have had the opportunity to chat with all of you. Most of all though, I was blessed to have had the opportunity to speak with Doris after all these years, and to one last time see her break into that beautiful smile and flash that little twinkle in one eye while winking the other! The world, but most of all the town of Trumbull, has lost a truly fine lady!
In closing, I wish to express my sincere condolences to both of you in the loss of your mom. I’m sure her spirit will live on through both of you for many years to come.
With loving thoughts,
Karen D’Andrea Birnbaum

Dear Laurie and Tommy,
It is with my deepest condolences that I write this . I am deeply saddened by the passing of your Mom. She was one of the loveliest, kindest, sweetest ladies I knew. I have wonderful memories of her and your Dad from my high school years!! I am so very happy I was able to re connect with her while she was at Jewish Home. She was such a wonderful person. I know the hurt you are feeling. May she RIP. You both have fabulous memories to enjoy in the years to come. Again my deepest condolences to you and your family!!
Lovingly,
