Obituary of Julio P. Madeira
Julio Madeira, age 79, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Maria Joaquina Rua Alves Madeira, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Born in Codeçoso de Montalegre, Portugal on May 19, 1941, he was a son of the late Joao Fernandes Madeira and Maria da Conceicao Pereira. A hardworking man, Julio was a laborer in the construction industry for many years.
He enjoyed making wine with his brother, loved to garden and could always be found tending to his fig trees. But above all, he was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He treasured spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. The unconditional love he gave will always live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 52 years, Maria, survivors include his loving children, a son, Rui Madeira and his wife Albertina of Shelton and a daughter, Guida Madeira of Bridgeport, a cherished and adored granddaughter, Melinda Madeira, a brother, Joaquim Madeira and his wife Ana Maria of Trumbull, a sister, Elisa Pereira Fernandes of Portugal, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Duarte Madeira and his brother-in-law, Joao Rua Dias.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport. Face masks are required, and social distancing will be expected. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. There are no calling hours.
