We all just loved Daniel and he made 17 cherished years at Silver Spring so special. He was always so warm and friendly and cared deeply about all of us and the Club. He always took such a personal interest in all of us. We have so many stories we could share, but a few really stand out. Years ago as nine-holer co-chair, we were organizing an evening twilight golf event. We had a game night theme planned and had decorated the tee boxes, had prizes, centerpieces all set for our theme. Daniel, of course was involved and excited about the event as always. When we came back after playing our round he had added more decorations and extra special table goodies that put it over the top! He just loved making things extra special for us and always went that extra step. It was evident that he loved his job and certainly made us all feel loved. One Christmas when the clubhouse was closed for renovations, a small group of us decided to have a “ladies holiday luncheon” at one of our homes. We thought, wow, this just won’t be the same without Daniel! So we asked if he’d like to join us. He eagerly accepted, but insisted that he would only be there to greet us and pour the wine. He came, did join in and we all had just best time! One last story, years ago, we attended the USA/France wine dinner. My husband doesn’t drink wine, so I called that morning to ask if he could have beer instead. When I spoke with Daniel, he was very gracious as always, but said that he wished I had told him earlier. I thought that was odd, since all Paul wanted was Coors Light. When we arrived, we figured out why he wished he had more lead time! Daniel had pulled together a special assortment of beers for Paul that he served as each wine tasting was served. We couldn’t believe it! That was Daniel, always going above and beyond and striving to ensure that everyone felt special and had a great time. When Daniel left the Club we all felt such a loss. When we heard of his passing we were all so sad and in disbelief. We send our deepest condolences to his family. The Greeley Family

We were very saddened to learn of Daniel’s passing. He was such a great friend and neighbor. He was always willing to lend a hand and was incredibly generous to us and our children - always sending them gifts for Halloween, Easter and Christmas. He would lovingly take care of our cat when we would go on vacation, always giving us detailed updates and pictures. We will miss him a great deal and pray he is at peace. We hope the passage of time will help ease your grief and that you find comfort in your memories.
Warmly,
Mindy & Alan Eskenazi

Oh what a wonderful person Dan Sagalski was. He was a loving, compassionate, hardworking individual, Assistant Manager, and then Manager at Silver Spring. When Bob was ill with Cancer for about 3 years, Dan seemed to be working two jobs at the once, Bob's and his own job. We had an unusual incident that Dan went overboard to help us with. We were headed to Kiawah Island for a golf week with friends. We forgot our clubs and rushed to Silver Spring to pick them up. It was "icy on the hill" and our car turned over into the woods. Dan was right on top of things as usual. He helped me out of the car, called a tow company to retrieve the car and keep it until we returned, and then drove us to our home to retrieve another car to drive to the airport. Lucky that the plane waited as we were a mess of nerves. Ed and I have never forgotten that incident and Dan's help. We would run into Dan in Ridgefield or Danbury and we always enjoyed talking to him. God Bless Dan Sagalski. He will be missed and his leaving us is "so sad" at such a young age. Ginny/Ed Merchant

I would like to share a story with you that only reiterates what a kind and wonderful person Daniel was. My husband Sandy, a former president of SSCC, another couple and I were driving back from golf at the club when we got a flat tire on Silver Spring Road. We had called AAA and it was going to be an hour before they arrived. Daniel came along and insisted he change our tire (on a hot summer day and in his business suit). Aside from sharing thanks and hugs he refused to let us do anything for him. We have such fond memories and those are the things that always keep someone in your heart.
My deepest sympathy,
Marlene Robbins

I only knew Dan from Silver Spring, but whenever I needed to have something special happen because I was a committee chair, he was the go-to guy. I can remember one fun event in particular. Our ladies golf group was on a tight budget and we had no funds for centerpieces. We had already spent our budget on appetizers and such. Dan looked at the situation and said, I'll fix it. And he did--he took our appetizer budget and created an edible centerpiece--lots of yummy foods that everyone got so excited about--all placed in the center of the table like an amazing offering--everyone couldn't wait to dig in, but also took photos--it was beautiful and fun and creative and it solved our problem. That is only one of the many times Dan was able to create basically something out of nothin for our group.
We hope your good memories eventually outweigh your grief. We grieve with you. Dan was a stand up guy.
Sincerely,
Gerri & Bob Lewis

Daniel was an amazing person and I’m so lucky to have known him for over 15 years. I had such fun planning events with him at Silver Spring – he would know exactly what the best food, decorations, table layouts, and music would be to make everything perfect for the guests! If I ever started to stress, Daniel would remain so calm and let me know he would take care of everything - “Don’t worry, I got this” he would say with a big smile. He wanted everyone to be happy! He was so caring and thoughtful - he would always send me a sweet email when he knew I had a hard week, or a supportive congratulations for a job well done. I am so very grateful for his kindness and friendship and he with be truly missed. My deepest condolences to his family.
