Lynn Rothschild posted a condolence

Mr. Reichert was not only my 5th grade teacher at North Street in the 1960's, but went on to have all four of my younger siblings as well. I believe as he got to the younger ones he simply offered to have my parents do parents night, as long as they didn't tell the stories of how, for example, most of my sister's glass had swollen faces from putting poison ivy on a fire! Most important, he was the first teacher who really cared about me and encouraged my interest in science, especially biology, at a time that girls were not as welcome. Fast forward and I've spent most of my career as a research scientist leading a group in astrobiology and synthetic biology at NASA. My only regret is that I didn't thank him in person, but hope his family reads this. I am eternally grateful and the wonderful photo is EXACTLY the way I remember him! You have so much to be proud of. Lynn Rothschild

Mr. Reichert was my fifth-grade teacher at North Street back in the mid-80's, and I was probably the kid giving him the biggest headache that year. But you'd never know it--he was always kind and good humored to everyone, including the kid that probably didn't deserve it (me). I also remember that it was in his class that we learned about the Challenger explosion, and he handled it very gracefully.
I was just daydreaming at work and thought I would see what he was up to these days, and sadly, learned that he passed away last year. Mr. Reichert, thank you for being a gentle, positive, and encouraging influence. I will miss you. -Andrew Barbour
