I met Ray over 50 years ago. We were apprentices together (he in plumbing, me in electrical). We became great friends and worked and drank together. We helped each other out over all these years. We built our businesses together. Spent many a night together at the "snake pit" and many other bars. He was a class act, a man of his word, and a very good friend. I always liked to make him laugh. He always called me Kromzi and I always called him Rayzi. We would get together and talk for hours about the old days. My fondest memory was when we both worked on the St Vincent hospital job together as apprentices. He needed some welding cables for his welder. So he asked me to meet him on the 6th floor at the end of our work day. There were no stairs or elevators yet, only ladders. When I got to the 6th floor, Ray had laid out a full length of 100' welding cable. He took his jacket off and asked me to wrap it around him as he spun around, which I did. He then put his jacket back on and we climbed down all the ladders, Him with 150 lbs of cable, me with the accessories, out past the guards and into our trucks. The funniest part was unwrapping him in the bar after. We always laughed about that one. One of Many, Many of our great adventures. I will miss him very much

As often with Ray, you met him under one circumstance and ended up becoming a good friend. A man of great personal and business integrity, Ray was an original, the sort you don’t often find these days. An astute businessman, he built Eastern Metals from the ground up and was always on the lookout for his “next best employee”! He took great pride in his family, especially working with Chris and Gregory to plot the future of EMW. He had a great and generous heart! We will cherish memories of the dock, Florida, lasagnas and many, many stories (some true!) shared over a shot and a beer.
Our sincere condolences to his family and friends for this shocking loss.

I first met Ray when I found him his Fort Pierce home. He was a client first, but became a fast friend. He belonged to our American Legion Post 358 and was extremely well liked by all. We all loved when him and his best buddy Dennis would roll in. I will share his obituary with our post this evening and we will have a prayer ceremony. He will be greatly missed.
