Obituary of Nancy Sliker

Nancy Sliker, age 68 of Sandy Hook, beloved wife of the late Thomas R. Sliker, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Born on October 24, 1953 in Sussex, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Virginia (Brown) Rapole.

Nancy spent her formative years in Sussex and Wantage Counties in NJ. It is there where she met her husband Tom in band class and spent their lives together as best friend's and spouses. Nancy attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL studying Pre-Med. She then concluded her education at the University of Miami. She got married to her high school sweetheart on September 18, 1976.

Nancy's biggest pride and joy was taking care of her husband and children with whom she raised in Trumbull, CT. She was involved in everything her children were involved in and was the best mother and friend who devoted her life to care for others. When her children got a little older, Nancy worked in the Trumbull School system. She also was Cub Master for her son's troop, dance mom to her daughters and was the Director of the Trumbull Little League. Nancy was extremely intelligent and loved to figure out how to do DIY projects by herself. She loved to cook, especially with her youngest daughter Rachel. She had a gift of art and painting. She was an avid gardener, despite her allergy to bees. She loved to read books, especially thrillers and when you saw her you were always greeted with the warmest smile and hug. Nancy and Tom moved to Sandy Hook from Trumbull in 2005 and spent their retirement enjoying their two granddaughters with whom she loved so much. When her husband, Tom passed in October, 2020, she just couldn't recover from the broken heart of losing her husband of 44 years (51 years together). Her wish was to be reunited with him again. Her family has peace knowing that Nancy and Tom are reunited again.

Nancy is survived by her three children, Corinne (Cori) Reppenhagen of Monroe, CT, TJ Sliker of Monroe, CT and Rachel Sliker of Monroe, CT. She had two cherished granddaughter's who were her world, Riley and Raegan Reppenhagen of Monroe, CT. She is also survived by her brother, John Rapole of Port Jervis, NY and her many nephews: Joseph (Rachelle) Rapole of Wurtsboro, NY; Stephen (Chelle) Rapole of Springfield, MO; Drew Foley of Moorpark, California; Scott (Erin) Foley of Longmont, Colorado and Dr. Eric and Dr. Hyun Foley of South Korea and many extended family members and beloved friends. She is predeceased by her parents; Joseph and Virginia Rapole and her brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Shirley Foley.

A graveside service and Celebration of Nancy's Life, will be also include remembrances of her late husband Tom will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 1:00 pm directly at St. John Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Road, Monroe, CT. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull, CT.
