Obituary of Leroy Moye

Leroy Moye, age 68, beloved husband of Deborah Bell Moye, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Bridgeport Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on October 30, 1953, he was a son of the late Harry and Lillie Mae (Stroman) Moye and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport.

"Little Man" as he was known by many, grew up in Columbia, South Carolina before moving to Bridgeport. He was a painting contractor who worked for the Bridgeport Housing Authority along with the Bridgeport Post for many years. He was a man of great faith and an active parishioner of St. Theresa Church in Trumbull where he was on the bowling team, coached youth basketball and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8013. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hot rod cars and auto racing but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife Deborah of 35 years, survivors include a loving son, Ian Moye of Statesville, North Carolina, two cherished grandchildren, Elise, and Emmett Moye, five sisters, Eartha Moye-Brown (Charles), Martha Mattocks (Grover), Patricia Moye, Maxine Moye, and Jacqueline Moye, and a brother, Jimmy Moye as well as many nieces and nephews. Brothers, Harry Jr., Wendell, and Willie predeceased him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Rd., Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
