Obituary of Doris I. Gabriel

Doris I. (Firmender) Gabriel, age 91, of Huntington, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to the late Joseph Gabriel. Born in Bridgeport on June 10, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Kosturko) Firmender and was a longtime resident of Shelton.

Before her retirement, she worked as an accounts receivable clerk for many years. Doris was truly devoted to her family and cherished being a grandmother and great grandmother. Homemade perogies was a specialty of hers and she loved vacations in Cape Cod with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura Reichelt (Bill), grandchildren, Jamie Belfiore and her husband Keith, Matthew Reichelt, Carli Herron and her husband Tom, William Gabriel and his wife Barbara, a great granddaughter, Kinsley Gabriel as well as many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by a son, Daniel Gabriel, a great granddaughter Addilynn Gabriel, brothers, Thomas and Robert Firmender and a sister, Helen Felisko.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday November 25th, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, 500 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
