I was one of John's fellow classmates when he attended Orchard Park Central High School, in Orchard Park, New York, 1954-1955. Although a latecomer to our class, he blended in seamlessly thanks to his wonderful personality, sharp wit and ability to adapt. He left behind many good friends and happy memories during his short time among us. On behalf of all his fellow classmates, I offer condolences to John's family. He is remembered here with much fondness!

John was such a kind and generous man. I'm a member of the Trumbull Long Hill Garden Club and had the good fortune of knowing both John and Mary. John remained a member of the Garden Club after Mary's passing and stayed involved in many projects; such as the first grade tree planting program for Trumbull elementary school students and a Monarch waystation garden at the Trumbull Nature Center. He was especially happy to have a butterfly garden dedicated to Mary's memory at the Jane Ryan Elementary School. He was always willing to lend a hand and provide encouragement. Along with John's many other talents, his weeding and edging skills were impeccable! My deepest sympathy to John's family.

John was the epitome of the welcoming and supportive folks who enjoy the sport and competition of autocross. Setting the foundation of a positive and encouraging environment during events, John was a tremendous ambassador for our sport and a key element in the growth of autocross in Connecticut. His encouragement and beneficial feedback/coaching led to my focused participation over a 10 year span and the successes I enjoyed. God Speed, John.

My deepest sympathy to the Williamson family. John and I shared an office space at the State of Ct for the better part of ten years and worked together for more years. John was the consummate family man. He shared his pride and love for his wife and children often and was so excited when his grandson was born. John was a serious professional who strove to do the right thing at all times and in every situation. He will be missed!

I met John in 2004, as a novice Autocrosser. He welcomed me into the FCSSC, at that point I was one of two ladies, so a bit nervous to compete with all the guys. He assured me all was well and gave me excellent instruction from all his years of experience as a fast and stealth driver. He also made sure I had the most up to date helmet and best fit! I count myself very fortunate to have met him and for the years of fun at AX. My Sincerest Sympathy to John's family and especially Dave, his son who is also FAST, and who also gave me tutorials and advice. The apple did not fall far from the tree.
RIP John you will be missed.

John has been a friend and the competitor for the 27 years I've known him. When John joined Fairfield County Sports Car Club it was clear he had driven competitively before, he was fast! Right up until his recent health issues, Young drivers jaws would drop when they saw they had been out driven by an 80 year old. John I will miss your stories of when tires were skinny steering wheels were big and cars cost less than what a set of tires do now.

It was truly a pleasure to have known John. I have fond memories of him from FCSCC autocrosses. A gentleman, a gentle man, true competitor, always eager to help with a smile on his face. Rest in Peace John.

I met John through the Fairfield County Sports Car Club about 10 years ago. He was respected by all for driving fast and being an example of sportsmanship as a competitor and mentor. So many autocrossers across the decades were helped by introducing them or helping them in this sport, that his influence and memory will be felt for many decades to come as well! Thank you John! -Ed Wong.

I'll never forget the wonderful times I had autocrossing with John. He was a class act and a gentleman, and a quick driver, especially for his age. He always had a smile and welcomed everyone, from veterans to first timers.
Let the record show that John beat me fair and square in the rain back in the 2009-2010 time frame. :D Godspeed John, and I hope you run that BugEye Sprite up in heaven.
Your Fan Always,
Nick Barbato
