Obituary of Frank Corigliano
Frank Corigliano, age 94, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at his home. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to the late Frances Calandruccio Corigliano. Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on May 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Cosmo and Maria Corigliano and was a longtime resident of Trumbull.
Frank proudly lived the true American dream. In his early 20's he left Italy to make a better life for himself in America. He married the love of his life, Frances, had three children and embraced all of the opportunities that this great country offered. Everything Frank did was for his family and their futures. He was driven from the start, never shying away from work. He worked construction, owned a small butcher and grocery store, and owned a wholesale bakery in Bridgeport for several decades. Even in his retirement, he had difficulty being idle, working well into his 80's at Stop & Shop and his son's candle factory.
Family was Frank's highest priority. He was the constant babysitter, chauffeur, and cook for the people he loved. Food was an important aspect of his life. Frank found his love for cooking during his later years, creating many family specialties along with his infamous "Poppy's pizza". In addition to spending time with family and cooking, he enjoyed maintaining his 40+ year old pool for his grandchildren, driving around town, tending to his yard and tomato plants, and making candles in his garage. These later year activities kept him young at heart and afforded him the ability to be independent until his death.
Survivors include his three loving children, Maria MacKeil and her husband Mark, Cosmo Corigliano and his wife Terri and Nancy DeNicola and her husband Frank, two sisters, Giovanna Bevacqua and Giacomina Bevacqua, nine grandchildren, Mark MacKeil (Michelle), Shannon Lynch (Danny), Sarah Hanas (James), David, Mary and Michael Corigliano, Katie, Brian and Kevin DeNicola and six cherished great grandchildren, Maddie and Hailey Lynch, Hunter, Owen and Lyla MacKeil and Olivia Hanas as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Frances (passed in 2002) and his sister Tita Creaco.
