Obituary of Devindra Pal Singh Anand

Devindra Pal Singh Anand ("Dave"), age 80, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Sunita Sohal Anand. Born in Chakwal, Pakistan on December 28, 1942, he was a son of the late Harbans Singh Anand and Jaswant Kaur Anand and was a longtime resident of Trumbull.

Dave immigrated to the United States when he was in his twenties and completed his masters at Auburn University in engineering. Dave was an esteemed telecommunications engineer, who started his career at National Semiconductor, worked at ITT, 3Com GTE and eventually branched off as a consultant to major companies in the telecommunications industry. Dave loved writing and has published several technology books. Dave was a lover of life. He enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren, playing tennis, cooking his native Indian food and talking politics. Dave was a kindhearted, openly loving and generous father, grandfather and husband. To know him was to love him. He loved all without judgment and provided for his family and extended family well beyond what most could imagine. Helping and giving to others brought him so much joy and that is what he did his entire life, in the spirit of his Sikh roots. Dave's family wishes to embrace his legacy as a hardworking, selfless, kind hearted and generous soul and live through his virtues.

In addition to his loving wife Sunita, survivors include three loving children, Shawn Singh Anand and his wife Maninder, Rahul Singh Anand and his wife Meredith, and Gaurika Anand Amini and her husband Kioumars, a brother, Ravindra Singh Anand and his wife Satbir, six cherished grandchildren, Kiran, Rhiya, Kieran, Isla, Pravin and Arman, and one great grandchild, Veer, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ranie Sawhney.

A Bhog (a Sikh farewell tribute) will be held at Rahul Singh Anand's house, 11 Stony Point Road, Westport, CT 06880, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 12 pm. This event is open to all friends and family to honor Dave in his passing.

The Bhog schedule will be as follows:

12 pm – 1 pm - Kirtan (ceremonial hymns)

1 pm - 1:30 pm - Ardas (final tribute)
