My heart felt condolences to the family of George Yahwak. I am a voice from the distant past, Terry Rogers, who used to ‘pal around’ with George when in high school. We both had radio amateur licenses and built all sorts of gadgets mostly trying them out in his bedroom. Then we discovered our high school would give us a day off for each FCC license exam we would take in the ‘big town’ of Syracuse near Auburn. We both rode the bus, took the tests in the morning and went straight to White Tower for their burgers and then anywhere we wanted until the bus was ready for Auburn. We did that all the way up to broadcast engineer and shipboard radio officer exams.
There is a web site, QRZ.com, that lists all radio amateurs in the US and most in the world (I am call WA4BVY). I noticed that George renewed his license, WA2CQH, for 55+ years…and then did not which prompted me to search for an obit.
I have lived and worked for many years in the NC RTP area as licensed engineer.
