Obituary of Margaret Lazzara
Margaret Adele Gerard Lazzara, age 84, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in Loudon, TN, where she lived for the last 5 years. She was born and lived in Bridgeport for 44 years and in Trumbull from 1964-1999. Margaret always gave generously of her time and talents to her community. She was an active member of the Edison Originals and served as president for many years. An accomplished seamstress and a master knitter and crocheter, she made hundreds of hats, lap blankets, and quilts for veterans organizations, hospitals, schools and nursing homes. She was honored many times by the national Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. During World War II, Margaret proudly worked as a set-up person and lathe operator at Singers. After the war, she raised four children before returning to work in retailing and retail management. An amazing woman, she learned to drive at age 50 and worked well into her 70s. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Emanuel Lazzara.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol Lazzara of Bristol, RI, Margaret Boyes of Loudon, TN, and Elena Lazzara of Manchester, NH; a son, Michael Lazzara of Rochester Hills, MI; four sisters, Mary Shackleton of Milford, CT, Clare Thornton, of Haverhill, NH, Edna Aragi of Brookfield, CT, and Anna Paradis of East Hampton, CT. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 3-5 p.m.
