Obituary of Emilio De Angelis
Emilio De Angelis, age 95 of Easton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 67 years to the late Vanna Bicocchi De Angelis, they resided in Bridgeport. Born on May 15, 1928, in Stowe Township, PA, he was the son of the late Cesidio De Angelis and Maria Floria Giammarco De Angelis.
At the age of two Emilio's parents moved the family back to their hometown Introdacqua, in Abruzzo Italy. From the age of ten Emilio and his sisters Anna and Josephine were raised by their grandparents after the untimely loss of their mother Floria. Their loss created a strong family bond that has transcended through the generations. Pride in his family and a tenacious sense of faith was evident in the way he lived his life. He came from a large musical family and was taught music at a young age, playing the oboe alongside his uncles and cousins in the Band of Introdacqua.
In 1946 Emilio and his sisters came back to the U.S. to be reunited with their father Cesidio after the conclusion of the Second World War. It was in Bridgeport where Emilio met Vanna Bicocchi who had recently moved there from Italy. They married after he served in the U.S. Army as a corporal and as the First Oboeist for the 37th Infantry Division Band.
Emilio worked in supervisory positions at various manufacturing industries in Ct, assisting others to find employment and guiding them through their career. He was proudly a long-time member and past president of the Duke of Abbruzzi Society, and the past conductor of the St. Margaret's Shrine Italian Choir. He was passionate about music, playing his oboe, piano, and many other instruments. He loved listening to classical music and sharing his music with others, mentoring many, including his grandchildren.
He was especially proud to be born in America and was very patriotic, yet he often spoke of his memories growing up in beautiful Abruzzo with his family and friends. Emilio was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His gentle spirit and outgoing personality have touched the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving children, Marco De Angelis and his wife Hanna, Floria Amico and her husband Robert, four cherished grandchildren, Dina Samsonov and her husband Yuri, Gina Bowersox and her husband James, Joseph J. Epifano and his wife Damas and Deidra De Angelis and Jonathan Carlson, adored great-grandchildren, Arielle and Jake Bowersox, Sofia and Nikolai Samsonov, two sisters, Anna and Josephine Tartaglia and a brother-in-law, Ivano Bicocchi and his wife Antoinette, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
